Upgrade Home to Pro (WinXP SP1)

I have XP Home installed from a restore disk. I would like to use the Tools which is only available only on the XP Home CD. I will have to purchase the CD. Any thoughts on just getting Pro and installing Pro over Home? Would it have to be dual install?

I believe the best method is to contact the OEM, of your machine and see what they can do for you. Most of the restore CD's have the drivers for that OS and that hardware. If you were to get a retail version, you need to make sure that you can get the drivers for the hardware that you have, as the MS CD's mainly have "Generic" drivers for most devices.

I would NOT put Pro over Home, do a clean install.

What make and model is this machine?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Thoughts on "just getting pro":

It costs a hundred bucks more (USD)

What do you need from Pro that Home does not do?

After answering the previous question do you want to spend the extra ?[/list]Personally, I always get the Pro version of XP. But I need some of the features it provides for my work, and the expense is justified. Home is just fine for many people and it's cheaper.
