    Excel Commments (Excel 2002)

When using Comments in Excel, is there any way to have the comments in another sheet in the same workbook and have the indicator/point appear on the first sheet in the cell(s) to which that comment pertains?

I do not think so (not as you are asking). The comments are part of the range and worksheet object.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Maybe there is some workaround using some other technique.

    Re: Excel Commments (Excel 2002)

My new boss says he likes to submit his budget in Excel format with the straightforward numbers on sheet #1, the numbers with the comment indicators in the cell on sheet #2 and the actually comments in sheet #3.

Any ideas on the most efficient way to accomplish this?

I would work with "sheet 2" as the master

Sheet 1 could be a "picture" of the Sheet 2 contents with camera tool (see John Walkenbach's site for a discussion of camera tool). Or you could just use cell formulas referencing sheet 2 values.

For Sheet 3 I would create macro to "grab" all the comments from sheet 2 and place them in Sheet 3 (in whatever format you desire: as a list with cell references in the same cell or whatever.

This site has some code on copying comments from 1 sheet to another.

    Hope this helps,
    Steve
