    Creating e-mail with VBS (Outlook 2002)

    I know enough about programming to be dangerous<g>, and I have a simple VBS script that creates a text e-mail and sends it through Outlook 2002. The e-mail arrives correctly as a text message to the receipient. To the cc, however, it arrives as text with a copy as a text attachment(??). And in the sent folder of the copy of Outlook being used, the body is entirely missing (but obviously being sent). I am not sure if I have a problem or not, but I certainly don't understand what is going on. Am I missing a property or somehting? Script follows, and any thoughts would be appreciated...Mike G

    Sub SendEMail()
    Dim objItem, strBody
    Set objItem = objOutlook.CreateItem(0)
    strBody _
    = vbCrLf & "Dear " & strUserFirst & "," & vbCrLf & vbCrLf _
    & "THIS IS AN AUTOMATED E-MAIL TO ADVISE YOU OF YOUR STATUS."
    objItem.To = strEMail
    objItem.cc = strEMailSupervisedBy
    objItem.Subject = "Sync Status at " & FormatDateTime(Now, 0)
    objItem.Body = strBody
    objItem.Send
    Set objItem = Nothing
    End Sub 'SendEMail

    In Outlook 2000, when you assign text to the .Body property, it converts the format from plain text to rich text. I don't know if that's true in Outlook 2002. (Gee, I guess I could try it. Hold on...) Okay, that doesn't seem to be a problem.

    Otherwise, a couple questions
    1. <LI>Are you using actual e-mail addresses, or names from the address book?
      <LI>Is your default message format Plain Text, Rich Text or HTML?
      <LI>Is your mail editor Outlook or Word?
      <LI>Have you been living right? <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>
    Hopefully your responses will point toward an answer.

    >>Are you using actual e-mail addresses, or names from the address book?
    Actual addresses retrieved from a local db; no issues there.

    >>Is your default message format Plain Text, Rich Text or
    Caught this one early on - specifically set to plain text

    >>Is your mail editor Outlook or Word
    C'mon, this is WOODY's lounge - you think I would be caught using Word???

    >>Have you been living right?
    Just slightly to the right.

    A bit more testing reveals that the results I am seeing are installation dependant (all 2002, btw). IOW, the one version of Outlook ALWAYS gets a text message with the text attachment, whether it is CC or receipient.

    Like wise I never use word as an email editor, it seems slow to me. I would be interested to know whats behind your statement as I havent heard this stated before.

    If you go through past issues of WOW, you can find Woody being very dismissive of using Word as Outlook's email editor. OTOH, I have it on fairly good authority that this has not stopped Woody from continuing to test Wordmail - and that he has been doing so recently.

    Blind allegiance to Woody <g>.

    Slow and buggy for the most part. Getting better I understand, but still mostly overkill to use word to write a two line e-mail.

    <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15> *Ignoring* Woody on topics like this is a lot like seeing a WET PAINT sign and insisting on testing it yourself! <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15> Paying attention to Woody saves a lot of effort.
