    change column letters (excel 2000)

    Hello all, it's maybe a stupid question but can i change the column letters A B C D E etc. in words???

    I've not seen any way to modify or hide the application's column labels, but you can certainly use Row 1 for your own custom headings. If you "Freeze Panes" the top row will always remain visible when the user scrolls. You can also use named ranges so that you can refer to columns by your chosen custom names (in formulas etc.)

    No, the column headers A, B, C, etc. are fixed. But you can put descriptive texts in the first row, then select the entire second row and click Freeze Panes in the Window menu. That way, row 1 will be fixed at the top of the window, it won't scroll out of view
