    email sent problems (Outlook XP)

We are not able to send email from inside our Office network (intranet), but can receive emails from the outside companies through the internet. The error we receive is: "The connection to the server was interrupted" when we try to send an email. Any suggestions?? Is this connected in anyway to the Microsoft update that was available to be downloaded when we came to work on Monday. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated. thanks John

Are you using an outside ISP for your email or are you running Microsoft Exchange?

We have an outside ISP which we can not get them to respond to our problem. I'm just trying to figure out what might be wrong or what the possibilities might be. thanks, John

If you are using your ISP's SMTP server to send mail, then it could be a server problem. However, you should also check whether your firewall could be interfering with those communications.

As for the Windows update, what was it? I don't think I installed anything this week.
