    Screen Unusable

An aquaintance of mine just hooked up his computer and the desktop was too small for the screen, so he changed the pixels; however they seem to be set wrong so now the screen has gone nuts like it's unable to handle the new settings. He restarted it and that didn't help; it looks like static on the sceen so he can't even see any of the icons to switch it back! What can we do to fix this? Thanks in advance for any info.

Usually hit F8 during boot up. That should bring up a menu.

Once you have gone into safe Mode, your friend should try either 800x600 or 640x480 under Control Panel|Display|Settings|Screen Resolution. HTH

    Re: Screen Unusable

Just as a point of interest I've just had a PC that would only display in 640x800, Safe Mode or Normal. If 800x600 was selected it reboot and came back in 640x800.

    As I was having other serious problems I tried a Repair re-install which failed at 33%. I've since bitten the bullet and done a full install. All's fine now, except I've "lost" 3/4 of a day. <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15> BTW this was Win2000 SP2.
