Suppressing blank lines and forcing next record (2002 w/ SP-2)

This is probably simple, but I'm a novice. Two questions
    1. Is there a way to suppress blank lines in a report?
    2. Is there an easy way to force the input of the next record. I was hoping for something along the lines of iif([field1]<>-1,"print something",nextrecord) What I want to accomplish is to go to the next data record if the condition is not met.

For the simple report I'm working with, a solution to either 1 or 2 will work. Thanks

I would suggest changing the query on which the report is based to exclude "blank" lines. Try putting "not is null" as a criteria on the applicable field(s)

You can set the Can Shrink property of both the detail section and of text box controls in the detail section of the report to Yes. Make sure that there is no vertical overlap between text boxes. (The same also works for group header and footer sections)

Thanks, Hans. I think this is what I'm looking for and will try it out.
