    Dragging messages (OL 2003)

I belong to some lists where members reply to messages in a thread with new subject titles. I would like to combine these to a single thread for simplicity of storage on my end.

ON WINXP SP1 machine, I was able to drag messages from one subject to another when using OutlookXP.

Now that I have upgraded to Outlook2003, I am unable to do the dragging as before.

    I have Outlook2003, version 11.5608.5606.

Any fixes that any of you know?

I'm not familiar with this idea. You group your Inbox by subject ("conversation"?) and when you drag between groups the subject line automatically changes? (I'm asking rather than trying it for a reason. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15> )

    Re: Dragging messages (OL 2003)

You are correct. In Outlook 2002 I had folders with view arranged to show conversations grouped (by subject). As folks responded to a given conversation, and changed the subject slightly, the new messages were grouped in a new conversation rather than the initial one - as expected. So in order to keep all the messages together, I drug the messages from the new group (or the entire group) to the initial group. When I did this, the subject changed to read where I drug the messages. I could do this repeatedly, from one subject to another, without complication.

I have the same arrangement of folders in Outlook 2003, but get nowhere in attempting to drag. Rather than moving the message, I get a circle with a line drawn through it (remarking can't do?). It doesn't help to press "shift" or "alt" with the drag either. My guess is that it relates to the higher level of security in 2003. I can edit the subject and get messages to move to the initial group, but this is really an inefficient way of doing it.
