    Windows XP Pro

A little rectangular box with the word "help" in it has appeared near the top right of my screen. If I open a document, it appears over the top of it. I cannot make it go away. What caused it, and how do I get rid of it?

Can you screenshot the box? Where are you opening the document? If you have a restore point prior to this, why not System Restore to make it go away?

I made it go away by going through a restart. I was really curious though as to what it was and where it came from.
    Thanks for your reply.

    I was too. That's why I asked for a SS.. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15> Restarts can mow down a lot of glitches. Glad it's gone.

At least yours was lucky enough to be up in the right corner. I used to get that all the time (And I could re-create it regularly) before I upgraded my video card. Essentially it's a stuck tool tip (When you hover your mouse over something it pops up a little description). I could create and have those stick whenever I ran several applications at the same time hiking cpu usage to almost max. Rebooting was the only way I could get it to disappear. Mine however turned out to be a video card driver issue. (Something to do with the refresh rate). I was using a Kryo II card when I switched over to a Gforce 3 card the problem has not happened again.
