    Wireless Broadband

I have two PCs, one running XP Pro, one Win 98SE. They are interconnected via USB 80211.b wireless adapters. The XP Pro machine has dial-up internet access, and I use Internet Connection Sharing to allow the Win 98 PC to access the internet.
I am about to sign up to a wireless broadband internet connection with a local supplier. This involves an aerial mounted on the existing TV mast, and a fat coax connection to a PCI card in the PC. The radio connection runs at 2.4 GHz, the transmitter has output power of 100 mW, and it all supports a 1MHz internet connection.
I was wondering if anybody has any experience of this sort of setup and if they have had any problems, particularly with two radio adapters in one PC.

    Re: Wireless Broadband

In the mountains of Colorado, there is a company http://www.amigo.net that provides Internet connections for this high mountain farm area. They have been one of best TEST areas for a "Wireless" network. There are several links about how this is done. The people that I know from that area seem to be happy with the service, but of course they do NOT have a lot of choices.

Thanks Dave - some interesting information there. The ISP is coming to do a site survey next week, so I'll see how it goes.

    Re: Wireless Broadband

Just a quick note. Here in Nixa MO the first "High Speed" internet available was wireless. A friend of mine works for Black Widow Bows and their building is less than 150 yards from the main output tower. On rainy days or snowy day's they lose connection intermediately and if the overcast is heavy (low clouds) then the connection is gone. They (Black Widow and the ISP) spent over 18 months trying to figure it out, now they (Black Widow) had ordered Cable high speed.
