    distributing a database

I saw a database recently that used a setup.exe file to load a database application on a users hard drive. It also linked tables to a server and created an icon. Does anyone know how this is done? If it's a lot to do is there a resource I can use to learn how this is done? It worked really well.. Thanks fo rthe help..

    Re: distributing a database

This was done using the Packaging and Deployment Wizard - which comes with the Developer Edition of Office 2000. There is also a version that comes with Office 97, but it's a bit more awkward and somewhat buggy.

With the Packaging and Deployment Wizard you can create a SETUP.EXE file with a number of different options (Floppy Disks, Web Distribution, Network Distribution, etc...). It also allows you to create custom start menu icons.
