    Funny Lounge behaviour

    [hi] Loungers.
    I'm seeing some funny behaviour when I'm lounging using my <img src=/S/whisper.gif border=0 alt=whisper width=29 height=17>Safari <img src=/S/whisper.gif border=0 alt=whisper width=29 height=17> browser at home. The lounge identifies Safari as "Mozil".

As I scroll down a post, reading all of the profound and witty comments, the window will jump to the top. Not a real problem with most threads but for some of the longer scuttlebutt ones in can be a pain in the ...

    Any ideas? <img src=/S/thankyou.gif border=0 alt=thankyou width=40 height=15>

The Lounge might not have detection for newer browsers, not sure how often that is updated. Also, most browsers seem to report themselves as being Mozilla-compatible (referring to the "old" Mozilla, Netscape Navigator). Even IE6 reports itself as some flavor of Mozilla.

    Re: Funny Lounge behaviour

Back in the office now and the Lounge is reporting the browser as IE6. I'm using Avant Browser which uses the IE engine.

But to return to the issue - using Safari (which I belive uses Mozilla) there is this irritating tendancy, every 10 seconds or so, for the window to scroll up to the top. Is there a setting that causes this? Do other Moz users experience the same?

    Many thanks for any/all suggestions, well at least polite ones <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>

    Re: Funny Lounge behaviour

I got Moz 1.4 a couple of weeks ago (having previously had to suffer Netscrape 4.7). I don't get the scroll to top effect you report but I have noticed that every 10 seconds or so the page tab reports 'loading'. As it's not an issue for me I've ignored it and just assumed it was related to the Google ads.

I'm pretty sure it is the ads.

My Moz is 1.5 and I've not seen anything like that scrolling problem, Bowlie. Has to be something in the Safari code or settings, don'tcha think?

    Curiouser and curiouser.
Not 100% certain its the ads ... It only happens in a thread, not a list of posts. It doesn't happen when I'm at the very bottom of a thread (watching the posts) - only when I'm not at the bottom. BUT ...

Everytime it scrolls up to the top - there is Lex having a sip of his Martini ... Maybe <img src=/S/lex.gif border=0 alt=lex width=16 height=16> doesn't like Safaris ...

You are correct in your assumption about the Google ads. <!profile=Bowlie>Bowlie<!/profile>'s problem doesn't arise with Mozilla Firebird either. Are we sure that it's not some mouse-wheel setting gone astray?

    Re: Funny Lounge behaviour

    OK,
Checked it out. I'm not using the logitech drivers, just relying on OS X mouse settings. Although I do have a <img src=/S/blush.gif border=0 alt=blush width=15 height=15> two button mouse <img src=/S/blush.gif border=0 alt=blush width=15 height=15> with a scroll wheel there are no mouse-wheel settings to set ... So every time the page reloads, to refresh the Goggle ads my page refreshes from the top down.

    Dang it all - I was sure it was <img src=/S/lex.gif border=0 alt=lex width=16 height=16>'s martini ...
