    too large on screen

    Hi folks -
a friend's computer got messed up when a friend of his worked on it. Appearance on screen is too large. I went in and reduced the icon size and then went into settings and took a look at the screen resolution - it was unmovable at 800 x 600. He has a standard PCI graphics adapter. Is there anyway to reduce his screen size without buying a new adaptor? The friend screwed something up without changing the adapter the first time.

    Thanks! <img src=/S/bananas.gif border=0 alt=bananas width=33 height=35>

You need to get the correct drivers for the graphics card, It appears that a Generic one has been installed.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

I promise you that Dave is correct. You need the Drivers for the Installed Video Card and you will then have more options in Resolution to choose from.

    Hi Dave,
I've been searching the web and haven't quite nailed a site which will tell me what drivers would work and/or where to download if it's free, would you have any of those sites?

    Thanks!

While you're waiting for Dave..... When you go looking for drivers, you need to be specific about the device you need drivers for, not just "video" for example. If you don't know what the make and model of your hardware is, try Belarc Advisor. It's a free download and will tell you lots of info about the hardware and software on the PC. Easy to use. The next thing I would suggest is that you go to the web site of the manufacturer of the card first and look for drivers there. If that doesn't pan out there are places like DriverGuide.Com where you could try, for starters. It's free and as far as I know, safe, but you will have to register first. As you may already know, there are others.

BigAlDoc said it all, except, if the computer is a "Brand" name you will need to go to their web sit and look for the model of the computer that you have.
