Cross about expiration of ZoneAlarm Pro trial

Has anyone else come to the end of a trial of ZoneAlarm Pro without buying it, and then finding that their machine hung, gave STOP 0x50 (Page Fault in Unpaged Area), stupid messages about uninstalling ZA, and so on?

After a couple of enforced power cycles and reboots the ZA Client disappeared from the HKLM...Run registry key, and the PC "seems" to be working properly now.

Not something that would encourage you to change your mind and actually purchase it, is it?

(I think we need a smilie that does Grrrrh.)

    John,

Guess it means that when the trial period is up...........it really IS up?
So un-install it and stick with the freebie version. This is the closest I could find that says Grrrrh. <img src=/S/razz.gif border=0 alt=razz width=25 height=17>

    Bob

Zone Alarm Pro was supposed to revert to the "free" version on expiry of the trial period.

I never thought of the [ razz ] smilie; it's a good one! (Does "razz" mean blowing a raspberry?)

Yes, razz can also be meant to "tease" or torment. <img src=/S/smash.gif border=0 alt=smash width=30 height=26>

We could be charitable and assume that this is a bug, rather than intentional. <img src=/S/2cents.gif border=0 alt=2cents width=15 height=15>

    Lonnie

When I clicked on the link (http://users.adelphia.net/~nanalonnie/images/Gif) in your PM I got

    Welcome to Users.adelphia.net server!
The page you have requested was not found on this server. That could be caused by several things:
The URL you were trying to retrieve was mistyped
The URL used to exist but has been changed
The customer account has been removed

Yet it shows OK in the Lounge (but only when I look at it at work...)!

John...I just don't know what to tell you...maybe you're being only allowed to view things from your work computer...and your home computer is having snitfits (read jealous) of the time you spend at work with that 'other' computer???? All joking aside, I really, really don't know what to say...did this problem ever happen previously at home...as far as viewing things from the Lounge - or is this just something that happens when it is MY smilies/gifs?

<P ID="edit" class=small>(Edited by bigaldoc on 27-Jan-04 06:42. )</P>John and Lonnie: I think that's typical behaviour on a web server where a "normal" directory can't be viewed in a filelist manner. I'm surprised you said it shows OK in The Lounge - you SHOULD get a privacy message of some kind. I don't know about Adelphia, but I had to have ASP enabled on my web server and MarkJ helped me with a script to list all files in a given directory. (I don't know how FTP fits into this equation) For example, try these two links to my space:

    http://www.alhoffman.org/graphics
    http://www.alhoffman.org/visitors/

Edited to add: I forgot to mention about case sensitivity. Try changing the Gif to gif and see what message you get (in fact I think it should be gifs)

Maybe irrelevant, but the url of the image above (for example) is:

    http://users.adelphia.net/~nanalonnie/imag...ifs/All/grr.gif

Perhaps the folder ...Gif just doesn't exist?

Otherwise I agree - if you simply enter the folder address as a url and there is no default web page there (a common occurrence in an image folder) - an error will ensue.

Oops, you're right, Leif. My typo. The correct folder name is Gifs and that explains why John got the "non-existent" message, rather than the "privacy" one I think he should have gotten.
