    Fill in all records (2002)

I have added a date field to an existing table. All dates are the same. There are more than a thousand records. Is there a way to fill in the date in all records without moving manually from one to another?
While we are at it, can I get some instruction on using the "Search" funcion in the lounge? I'm sure this must have been covered before.

You can use an update query with only the added date field. In the Update to line enter your date and run the query

I'm not exactly clear what I can add to your understanding of the Search function. <UL><LI>It runs a simple SQL string.<LI>Unless otherwise specified, it searches only the body of posts.<LI>Searches can only be done on one parameter.<LI>It is not possible to Search "within a Search".<LI>After having run one Search, you will generally find that - if you Search again immediately - the Search will be carried out on the entire Lounge, rather than the Board with which you started.[/list]Click on Search at the top of the screen and see what you can find.

If you go look at <!help=09>Help 09<!/help> it gives you some basic guidelines. In general it works much like other search engines, but is confined to topics in the Lounge. You can also restrict it to specific forums - it automatically picks Access for example, if you click the Search menu item while looking at an Access thread or the forum. Otherwise it's a typical boolean search where you can specify multiple words to look for and some operators. Give it a go, and let us know if you run into problems.
