    System32 folder

When Win2k boots up an Explorer view of the System 32 folder appears. It can be closed, but it is annoying. Is this related to any virus or Xupiter nonsense? This is a remote PC and I'm trying to debug over the phone.

Check this thread here - I'm fairly certain it's the same cause although in the XP forum.

    Re: System32 folder

This KB is mentioned in the thread Leif linked--there seems to be a route to fix using msconfig unchecking or the registry most of the time:

170086: System32 Folder Opens When Logging on to Windows XP, Windows 2000, or Windows NT 4.0

    SMBP

Thanks for the references. My remote user says he can't start msconfig. Windows says it ain't there. Any thoughts? Couldn't find it under System Tools, either.

Thanks for the URL. I didn't know that msconfig was left out of Win2k. Ah, Microsoft, consistency is not thy strong point.

Yes MISCONFIG was left out in Win2000. But you can download it at the link above or HERE with Instructions. I used this link to install it on my wifes computer running Win2000.

Yours was the second link. DenGar, Post 338917 above, has another useful site.
