    Autocorrect Macro (Word 2002)

Help! My administrator set me up with another computer and I have lost all my autocorrects I use daily in the office. I have an old macro that backs up my autocorrect file (which I did on the old computer). I brought that file over to the new computer and used the macro again to restore it, but I get an error that the format is wrong.

I hate to type in all these autocorrects again - there are about 56 pages of them. Thanks.

What is the format of the backup. Is it the ACL file itself, or is it a Word document containing a table, or ???

    Re: Autocorrect Macro (Word 2002)

It's a Word document containing a table. I just printed out something from Microsoft (Article 269006) on how to move entries between computers, but it looks so confusing. I have Office XP. So that would be Word 2002, I believe. When I use the Autocorrect macro that I found, it just tells me the file format is wrong.

    Hi Johanna:
See the attachment in <post#=250022>post 250022</post#>. It contains two macros for adding & deleting lists of autocorrect entries. To my knowledge, it has not been tested in Word 2002. If you decide to use it, please post back as to whether it works in Word 2002.
    Hope this helps,

If Phil's post didn't help, paste a couple rows of the table into a new document (nothing too personal or confidential) and post it here. We almost certainly can adapt the macro to your format.

    Re: Autocorrect Macro (Word 2002)

Thanks for your reply. After begging a while, my administrator copied the ACL file from my old computer to the new one, and renamed the one in the new computer. I'm not sure where it is located on the drive. . . But, it worked. She didn't tell me exactly what she copied from where to where. But I am happy now!
I am not sure what the macro is supposed to do that you sent to me. Would it have replaced the old with the new? Anyway, thank you people for your help! I REALLY appreciate it, and it's good knowing that there is someone when I get stuck.

    Re: Autocorrect Macro (Word 2002)

    Hi Johanna:
The macro was designed to quickly add or delete numerous autocorrect entries. It would not have copied your old *.acl file. It would merely let you add your customizations more quickly than one at a time. However ingenious the macro is, sometimes begging is best. <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15>

Thanks, Phil. I will keep that macro for possible future use.
