Doubleup of Folder Display (Windows XP)

    Hi,
I have noticed that sometimes when using Windows Explorer, on a Windows XP PC with the folders view open, that after going into and out of folders the display of the folder doubles up, ie shows two of the folders. This sometimes is removed by refreshing, and seems to affect CD's more. Has anyone else experienced this and know the solution?
    Thanks Gabriel_NZ

Does it show two of the same folder, in the same Explorer window?

Yes, On the right hand pane that has the folders, usually after you open a folder, the folder you opened and any subfolders are double displayed one after another. If you click in either folder then they both work. The double up can be fixed temporarily by using the view> refresh option on the menu bar.

A few things come to mind. First, are you fully service-packed and patched?

If the answer to that question is yes, then you may want to check into updating your video drivers, although I think this has more to do with the way that Windows is managing your folder views. Post back with the information I noted and let's take it from there. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

    Hi,

The PC is running SP1 with all critical patches installed (except 04-004) and only a few Recommended patches, e.g. not Windows MovieMaker 2. I have not checked for updated video drivers but the PC is only 6 months old. Do you recommend I try to find and install updated video drivers. I have also left the graphics acceleration on the highest level.

Can you provide a screen shot of what you are getting?

What make and model is this machine?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Hi DaveA,

The PC is a Desktop, a Dell Dimension 4600. The doubling up is intermittent, when it next occurs I will take a screenshot and post it.
