    Use Criteria and Unique

In Excel2000, how would I get a list of unique items from a data table after using a filter. For example, I have the following data:

    Location Month Amount
    NY Feb 100
    LA Mar 200
    LA Mar 300
    NY Mar 400

I want to get a list that looks like this for the uniques in Mar:

    Location
    LA
    NY

I know how to do filter get just March but then how do I do a unique off of my results?

    Thanks

    Re: Use Criteria and Unique

You need to use the Advance Filter rather that the Auto Filter for best results. I am attaching a worksheet using the example data supplied by you. Just because it is advanced does not mean it is difficult. You set a criteria range which you want the data to match. When specifying the filter you can indicate unique records only. The important thing is to restrict the extract to the field that you want a unique listing of. You can if you prefer filter in place, but an extract range is probably best.

    Re: Use Criteria and Unique

    Hi there,
To expand on snax500 problem, how can you add the amounts of the unique records, for example:
    ny-feb-100
    la-mar-200
    la-mar-300
    ny-mar-40

I want the result to be:
    la-mar-500
    ny-mar-40

    Thanks again

Nevermind, pivot table will basically do the trick.
