Is 'Page m of n' bug fixed in Word 2003? (2003!)

Having been, yet again, annoyed by having page 1 of 1, page 2 of 2, etc., print in a four-page document in a fully-updated Word 2002 installation, I wonder whether anyone can tell me if this bug has finally been nailed in Word 2003?

    Thanks!

    John

That problem was fixed with SP1 for Office XP, and NO I have NOT had that problem using Office 2003.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

In your first post, you wrote "fully updated", but the latest version of Office XP is SP-2.

Look here, Hans! Just because I'm too lazy to click on Help => About ....

(I was obviously thinking about XP SP1...)

Re: Is 'Page m of n' bug fixed in Word 2003? (2003!)

    Hi John:
I don't have Word 2002 or 2003, but this was a problem in Word 2000 also. Is this happening in all documents, just new documents, or just some old documents? The reason that I ask is that it's possible that there is corruption either in some old documents or in normal.dot.

Try starting Word from Start/Run & typing

    winword.exe /a

& then copy/paste special one of the problem documents into a knew document. If that resolves the problem, then it's either corrupt documents or normal.dot. If not, then perhaps a repair (Word 2000 had Detect & Repair...I don't know about later versions).

    Phil

The problem with printing page numbers just happens occasionally, and it doesn't seem to matter whether it's a new document or one which has been created (in Word 2002) and then edited quite a bit. You can usually get it to print correctly by clicking on the "Last Page" number in the header or footer, but sometimes it will appear correctly on the screen but then print incorrectly!

This problem has had such an outing over the years that it's on Word FAQs everywhere, so I'll just go through there (again!) and see if I can keep it away as far as possible..

    Thanks!

    John
