    Beginners Guide to Networking

    Hi

I have 2 pc's at home and am toying with the idea of networking them and also going to broadband (ADSL) internet access (Yes down here in Oz most of us are still on dial up).

Can someone point me in the direction of a good guide to networking and broadband. I've got a reasonable level of PC knowledge with standalone pc's but have never been involved in Networking. My pc's are running Windows XP one with Professional and the other Home Edition.

    Thanks in advance
    Dax

Here's one place to start looking. As you can imagine, there are so many sites on the topic that it's somewhat overwhelming. The hardest part about browsing through most of them is finding the right "entry point" for your specific question or level of experience. Good luck and come back if you have more questions.

I prefer books. "This Wired Home" Third edition from Microsoft Press (Alan Niebaur) is the best out of the many I have gone through. Simple and step-by-step and easy on the eyes.

Thanks everyone for your advice. I've checked out all the suggested websites, have bought the necessary hardware etc and am about to dive in head first. If I have any problems I know where to go.
    Thanks again
