    Broadband speeds

I have an ADSL router/modem, with 2 Windows XP and 1 Windows 98 connected. The download speeds on the W98 PC are very slow. I have tried various speed tests - all show the 2 XP PC's have download speeds 450-490kbs, but the W98 has only 120-200bps. I've swopped round all the cables in the router ports, no change. Any ideas?

    Re: Broadband speeds

I find significant speed improvements using the optimization to the registry provided by TCP Optimizer (the one I use, there are others) You can read about/download the "tweaks" at WWW.Speedguide.net I use cable modem but you should get speed improvement with DSL, too. Download and install TCP Optimizer on each of your computers, run it and click on the "Optimized Settings" bullet near the bottom of the dialog box. Reboot and that's all there is to it.

(ps this is the first thing I do after a new format/install, even before Windows Update!)
