current word count always on top (2000 or later)

Is there any way to display the current work count in a document so that it is always visible? Ideally, a toolbar button that shows the running count would be great, but I'm open to other options.

    Thanks,

Word 2002 (and presumably 2003) has a special Word Count toolbar.

And for Word 2000 and before, see the thread starting at <post#=114258>post 114258</post#>, in particular the code by Klaus Linke.

Thanks, Hans. I appreciate the link to the thread containing the VBA code. I played with it and it works reasonably well, within the limits described in various subsequent postings. I'll play with the Word 2002 word count toolbar when I am near a machine so-equipped later this week.
