Convert Excel to PDF (Excel 2003, Acrobat 6.0)

This may not be the proper forum for this post, but I thought I'd give it a try. Have had no results from the Acrobat forum. Thanks much for any assistance from anyone who has had the same crises.

When converting an Excel spreadsheet (Office 2003) to PDF format Acrobat 6.0, using either:

    1. Create Files-->From Multiple File in Acrobat or
    2. Adobe PDF button-->Convert to Adobe PDF in Excel

there is a black box that appears over the top of the range or spreadsheet that is converted. I have found I can then use the Touchup Object Tool on the Advanced Editing toolbar in Acrobat to select the black box and delete it. The spreadsheet is then ok.

But, in Excel, if I select File-->Print-->Adobe PDF the spreadsheet will convert as expected - just fine.

Any ideas why the black box appears in the first example?

I posted my question on that forum 1/29 - it's on the fourth screen titled "Acrobat 6 - converting Excel Spreadsheet to PDF" and has no replies. I also didn't find any other topics that matched my problem, unless I'm just not looking in the correct location.
