    Epson Color 600 Printer Fault

I have a Epson Color 600 printer which is exhibiting a printing fault

The printout fault is that at ca. every 1cm or so, it misses printing

The text will be missing either the upper or lower sections of the characters

When printing a color image there will be a band of color abberation at ca. the same 1cm intervals

I have brand new black and color cartridges installed but i think that the fault must be in the software or in the connections to the print head

Can anyone tell me from this description what the likely fault could be and is there any fix or way I can track down the fault

    Thanks in advance

Although having new cartridges makes it less probable, part of the print heads may be clogged up. If you have installed the Epson Answers software, it provides trouble shooting. Otherwise, display the printer properties (right click the printer in the Printers control panel) and activate the Epson-specific tab. Run the print head cleaning utility, then do a test print. Repeat if necessary.

    OK Hans

    Thanks for your suggestions

However I've tried the cleaning actions that you have suggested quite a number times without success

I'm afraid that the problem may be a little more cvomplex

    Thanks anyway

A software problem doesn't seem very likely. A faulty cable or a misalignment of the print heads is more probable, but I can't help you solve those...

    Hans

It's not the Printer cable as it's OK with my other printer

I presume that there isn't any way to adjust the Head alignment

    Tahnks for your time

Re: Epson Color 600 Printer Fault

I actually meant the cable inside the printer, not the one from your PC to the printer. But unless you know someone who is really knowledgeable and handy with printers, you have a dilemma - getting the printer repaired might well be more expensive than buying a new one...

    Hans

I've not been able to get into the Lounge for about 24hrs I guess it's due the Virus problem that is raging @$%^&

Yes I understand which Flat cable you mean and I've removed/re-inserted the Print Hear end without any change in the printing problem

Unfortunately I've not been able to figure out how to unscrew the beast to get at its motherboard and the other end of the cable

Being a very old Comms engineer I know that the main source of trouble with electronic systems is the BLOODY connectors #$%^&*

Do you have any idea how to hack into the beast to get to the other end of the Print Head cable ??

Hi Max. I've been watching as you and Hans have been writing. Have you checked the thread pointed out by Viking? You haven't said how old this printer is or whether you've tried to contact Epson to see if they have any ideas. Wow, I haven't tried to take one apart ever since the days of the first Epson MX-80 impact printers! I suspect that Epson would tell you that either the print head sub-assembly needs replacing or that you need to retire the printer. That is, if they were inclined to reply to your inquiry! I had to replace a printing mechanism on a Lexmark printer some years ago and in the final analysis, I would have been better off junking the thing, for the money and time I spent on it. Sorry, I know I'm not abating your misery.

    Bigaldoc

Thanks fer your thoughts again I've had trouble access the site to respond

I've no intention of appoaching Epson would only screw me and as an old miserly Comms engineer I like to try and find my own solutions

However this beast has defeated me insofar I've not been able to find a way to open Pandora's Box and get at its guts #$%^&

If anyone has experience of opening an Epson Color 600, could they please reveal the secret to me

    Thanks in advance

    Cheers n Tears

    Max

HP have a large number of bulletin boards where users post questions and get answers from peers and (very occasionally) HP staff.

If I were you, I'd see if Epson provides an equivalent...

    Good luck!
