Office on 2 Computers (Office 2003)

I have finally purchased a laptop for our small business in order to be mobile. Can anyone tell me the legality of loading our new Office 2003 onto the laptop as well as onto the desktop?

Thanks for any advice.

Check the End User License Agreement that appears in the install routine for Office 2003 but you may be covered by the following:
1.1 Installation and use. You may:
(a) install and use a copy of the Software on one personal computer or other device; and
( install an additional copy of the Software on a second, portable device for the exclusive use of the primary user of the first copy of the Software.
Note the words "...exclusive use of the primary user of the first copy..." near the end. That means if you are the main user of the Office desktop installation, then no one else is licensed to use Office on the laptop.

Make sure you check your own version. It may be different.

There are different rules for OEM, Students & Teachers and "off the shelf ". Generally you can install on 1 main computer and 1 portable. The EULA states:

1.1 Installation and use. You may:
(a) install and use a copy of the Software on one personal computer or other device; and
( install an additional copy of the Software on a second, portable device for the exclusive use of the primary
user of the first copy of the Software.

OEM version can only be installed on the original computer and Student & Teacher on up to 3 computers (there are limitations)

For full details see Microsoft Office EULA

Tony and Unkamunka,

Wow! Thanks. That is exactly what I needed to know. I am the primary user so that should be okay. Our version was purchased retail, so that clears up the OEM potential glitch. Will read the linked MS info, too.

You both have eased my mind and saved me hours of searching for an answer via Microsoft! Thanks again.

Linda

PS Tony: It's been too long since Latin and I have been close. Can only translate "forte", "magna" and "et". Will you share the translation?

Estne tibi forte magna feles fulva et planissima?

Do you by chance happen to own a large, yellowish, very flat cat?
