    Access Square Root (2000)

I have a query that gives me a total which I need the square root of. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. <img src=/S/dizzy.gif border=0 alt=dizzy width=15 height=15>

You can use the Visual Basic function Sqr in queries. You probably need to create a new query based on the one you have. Add a calculated field to your new query: in the Field: line, enter

    RootOfTotal: Sqr([TotalField])

where RootOfTotal is the name you want the calculated field to have (the column header) and TotalField is the name of the field containing the total. Alternatively, you can compute the square root by raising the total to the power 1/2:

    RootOfTotal: [TotalField]^0.5
