    Default forms (OutlookXP/WinXP)

I'd actually like to be able to do this in both Outlook 98 and Outlook XP, but the important one is Outlook XP, please!

I've created myself a new Contacts form (you'll notice it took me less than two weeks to get fed up with part of the info on a contact being on the front 'tab', part on the others and part not showing at all because the fields are not displayed anywhere except under 'All Contact Fields' on the last tab!).

What I want to do is have this form be the default one, so when I open a contact in that folder it automatically displays in this format, not the original Outlook one. Yes, I know I can set the folder properties to use the new form, but this only affects any new contacts, not the existing ones - how do I make these existing ones use the new form? At least this is what happens in O98 - I haven't tried it at home on OXP yet!

The only thing I can think of, since I've only just imported the contacts from an XL spreadsheet (as exported from Lotus Organizer), is to set the new form for the folder and then reimport the spreadsheet into it - would that make them take up the new format?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated!

You might search Slipstick or here for an MSKB article on this. I believe there was a little utility you download that changes your default form. At least for message items... not sure about contacts.

    Bang on, Jefferson! <img src=/S/thumbup.gif border=0 alt=thumbup width=15 height=15>

In fact, I'm *exceedingly* glad you pointed me to that (those) MSKB articles and the utility, because after posting my question I went home and discovered that not only does XP behave exactly the same as 98, but importing the contacts again still doesn't make them use the new form, so there's no other way!

    Many thanks! <img src=/S/thankyou.gif border=0 alt=thankyou width=40 height=15>
