    'Save Preview Picture' (Excel 2000)

On the properties dialog "Summary" tab there is a checkbox labeled "Save Preview Picture" When I check it and save the file and then reopen the file the checked state of this item is not saved. Is this the way it is suppoe to operate?

Re: 'Save Preview Picture' (Excel 2000)

I don't have Excel 2000, but in both Excel 97 and Excel 2002, the setting is "sticky" - if "Save Preview Picture" was ticked when the workbook was closed, it is still ticked when the workbook is reopened. I have found no mention in the newsgroups of problems with this setting. Could there be an add-in interfering with the setting?

Thanks and yes this is only happening on one PC so I am looking for something that is causing this. Also I notice that one cannot record a macro of accessing the File Properties dialog. How do I access via VBA code?

As far as I know, this property is not exposed in the Excel (or Word) object model, so the only way to set it is using SendKeys, which can be tricky, as you are probably aware. See for example here.
