DocVariable Wont Stay in Header (Word 97)

Once again I have struch a snag! I am trying to put a docvariable in the header of my document, but it wont stay there. I have searched MVPS for the answer with no luck and couldnt locate a similar subject using the Lounge search.

Any ideas?

There is a documented problem with DOCVARIABLE fields in headers, footers or text boxes in Word 97. See WD97: Invalid Page Fault Using DOCVARIABLE Field. Microsoft recommends using custom document properties instead

Hmmm - took a look and - yuk - that doesnt sound good.

Looks like another good idea down the drain.

Hi Kerry,

Unless I'm mistaken, installing the latest Microsoft Word 97 update http://office.microsoft.com/download.../Wd97mcrs.aspx fixes the problem.

If not, you may be able to work around it another way:
Put your DOCVARIABLE field into the body of the document
