    W32/Nachi (Windows XP PRO)

    Hi

I am not sure if I am in the right place for this question. I keep getting a pop up dialouge box saying that W32/nachi is in the system volume but I understand you cannot edit this folder

I have run stinger , Fix Welch. Blaster and run the microsoft patch but it still keeps popping up,

This is a worm also known as welchia.

For details of how to remove it see Symantec or McAfee

    Hi Tony

I have checked this site this where I got the programme to remove it, but it still leaves this popup that I mentioned.

System volume information contains your system restore files. You could turn system restore off and reboot that should get rid of the files. Then you could turn restore back on. If the rest of your system is ok, you could just ignore it until the current cycle of restore files is gone as long as you realize that you could introduce a big problem if you use restore and the date you pick has the virus.
