    Preview (2002 SP2)

On a end-user pc with win XP and Office XP when I open a report in preview, it hang and stay at Calculating...
Even a new database with new tables and new reports it hangs.
When I open the underlaying query I have no problem an if I send the report to the printer it's also fine.
    Annybosy a suggestion ?

    Thanks

Do you mean that this happens with ALL reports in ALL databases? If so, I would say that there is a problem with either the video driver or with Access/Office. See if Help | Detect and Repair from within helps. If not, a reinstall of the video driver and/or Office might be in order.

f it occurs for a specific report, does it contain code?

It's happening with all reports (with or without code) in all database. If I use the databases on another pc (Access 2000 or Access 2002) no problem.
I have done a repair from the Configuration / Software. No result. I didn't try to reinstall yet. What about registration if I do a reinstall ? The customer has installed Office XP on his desk-pc and on his laptop (witch don't have that problem).
As for the video driver, I don't have any problem with any other software.

The activation data for Office XP is stored in a file named Data.dat (on my PC in Cocuments and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataMicrosoftOfficeData.) You can backup this file and restore it after reinstallation.

Make sure you have the latest version of MDAC on all the involved machines. You might want to check that before you do a reinstall anyhow, just to see if that's the problem.

    Charlotte,

If the wrong MDAC was installed on the pc, the application wouldn't have work before. It's an application developed in Access 97, upgrade to 2000 and is since last year on XP (2000 format). The problems started only a few days ago. <img src=/S/hairout.gif border=0 alt=hairout width=31 height=23>

Actually, I believe there was a security update that did update the MDAC fairly recently. You might check to see what version of the Jet Engine you have - the latest is SP8.

Problem solved. Apparently there was something wrong with the default printer driver (Brother HL1450). Removing the printer and reinstall it and the problem was gone.
    Thanks everybody.
