    PocketPC 2002

Hi, I just bought Pocket PC 2002 off of Ebay, and the cd doesn't come with any kind of "cd key". I know with Windows 2000, I need to enter a cd key. Don't I need one for Windows Pocketpc 2002 also?

I don't remember having to use a key when I installed it.

    In other words, . . . I don't need a key . . . ?

I can't be that positive for you. I don't know if my kit was an OEM one specific to my iPaq, or some sort of volume license thing from my employers.

I stand to be corrected but to the best of my knowledge you can't buy PocketPC (aka WindowsCE).

The operating system is embeded in ROM in the handheld device. The CD that comes with the WinCE device usually contains optional software that can be loaded into RAM and the synchonisation software to load onto your desktop PC.

    Re: PocketPC 2002

I definitely upgraded my iPaq to PocketPC 2002 from a previous version. The upgrade process was very similar to a BIOS upgrade on a standard PC.

Edited by StuartR to add A quick browse of the HP web site shows that PocketPC 2002 for the iPaq 3600 series is still available as a free download.
