Grow/Shrink boxes in Telephone Book (Access 2000)

    Hello:
I have a telephone directory that I want to make the text boxes larger or smaller depending on if the names require it. I have tried the "Can Grow" and "Can Shrink" properties in the format section of the boxes. This has some effect, but not the effect I want.

For example, the MiddleName field isn't used for many of the contacts. Either is the Pedigree field. What I would like is for the text boxes that contain that information to be ignored if not used. In other words I don't want the fields taking up space on the line if they're not used. This way when one of the fields that contains data does need to grow, it won't expand down to include the row below it.

I think Word's address label maker has the ability to ignore field if empty. So maybe there is some simple code to use in this report if field IS NULL.

    Thank you,
    Doug

That worked great. Just needed to be careful how I entered the code from that MSKB article. Once I got the spacing and names worked out it puts the names in line just fine.
    Thank you, again, Hans.
