Tab not doing an increase indent (Word XP)

Outline numbered text won't go in a level with Tab - it just inserts a tab (but Increase Indent button still works)

I have tried reseting the keyboard mappings - just in case - who knows.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Judith:
Do you mean up a level? If so, go to Tools/Options/Edit tab & check the box for "Tabs & backspace set left indent".

If you prefer, you can also change the level by pressing Alt+Shift+right or left arrow key. That way you can also insert tabs.
    Cheers,

Thank you for that! I can't find it on XP (but no trouble with 97 & 2000) - however with this hint I wrote a macro to change it.

In Word XP the setting has moved to
Tools > AutoCorrect Options > AutoFormat as You Type > Set left and first indent etc etc (down near the bottom)
