    Partitioning Hard Drive (XP Professional)

I have one primary partition on C: that is formatted with NTFS that shows in disk properties. I'd like to split this disk to make two partitions, but Partition Magic 6.0 fails to recognize it as a partition at all. I have Windows XP Professional working from this disk. How can I split the disk into two partitions - how can I convert NTFS to FAT32 there, and all without losing my stuff that is in C:?

There are other programs out there, but since you already own PM 6, I would think the cost to upgrade to the latest version (PM 8) would be less than buying another product from scratch. It's been awhile since I used PM 6, so I don't remember when PQ added NTFS to its capabilities.

I've never gone "backwards" from NTFS to FAT or FAT32, so I can't speak to the possible problems, but PowerQuest has some "cautions" in the PM 8 User Guide about this topic. I have however, changed the partition sizes on a physical drive that has a FAT32 and an NTFS partition. I didn't have any problems.

You can read all about Partition Magic 6 here. Can you expand on what you mean when you say that Partition Magic fails to recognize it as a partition?? What is the "it" in question and what does Partition Magic say "it" is ??

So far as going back to Fat32 from NTFS, use PM to do it. I've had no problem at all making the conversion in either direction.
