    Error MSO9.DLL (XP)

Can someone out there help me with my MS Outlook?

I have begun to get thrown out of the software and an error message MSO9.DLL not found - suggesting that re-installation might help.

I have reinstalled to no avail, and the problem is becoming more frequent. It's probably not a lot of use suggesting that I download from Microsoft's website as I do not have broadband and my internet connects at 36,000 speed. <!t>[smile]<!/t>

You are running Outlook 2002, Office XP? I believe MSO9.DLL was a DLL that was part of Office 2000. This could be the problem.

Can you describe in more detail the circumstances when Outlook closes? Is it immediately when you try to start it up, or after doing something specific? Do you have any add-ins, such as virus scanners, anti-spam, fax stuff, etc., hooked into Outlook? Maybe we can get rid of whatever wants the old DLL (assuming I'm correct about that).

    Re: Error MSO9.DLL (XP)

Thanks to your response to my email - that makes a lot of sense. I have never installed MS Office 2000 on this PC, but did install MS Publisher 2000 as an attempt to save on purchasing the XP version as I use it only sparingly. I guess that is what caused the conflict. In despair I contacted Microsoft yesterday, and am very pleased with their help. I have now uninstalled MS Office XP and re-installed. Somewhere in that process MS Publisher 2000 was also uninstalled. Is there an issue about using an earlier version of something like Publisher alongside MS Office 2000. Have I really got to pay again?!

Thanks again, Susan - It's good to have an explanation - MS didn;t check whether MSO9.DLL was for a different version of Office!

On the General Office Solutions board, there are several threads about how to make different versions of Office applications play nice with one another. The #1 rule is to install from oldest to newest. But there are plenty of other rules. And please, don't call me Susan. <img src=/S/wink.gif border=0 alt=wink width=15 height=15>
