Getting Started switch (Excel 2003)

     Loungers

Has anyone found the switch to turn off the getting started banner when ever you start MS-Excel 2003?

It is getting in the way, and I would rather switch it off.

    Thanks in advance.

believe me when I tell you I have this option unchecked, but it still come up. I was always under the impression that this one is not the Geting Started, it is equivalent to the View Pane in Outlook, pane, but if you say so I will take yur word for it, but is there any registry entry for Getting Started to turn off.

BTW I am having a rough time with all sorts of problems with MS-Office 2003, and I will be pasting messages in all the relevant fora, so watch out.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Wassim

I just checked and it works on my system. Checking the registry it modifies the following key.

    HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftOffice11.0ExcelOptionsStartup Dialog

It is a hexidecimal value that is set to 0 when "Startup Task Pane" is not selected and 1 when selected.

I just realized that this is an Office setting and not application independent one. I had it turned on in MS-Word but did not need it in MS-Excel. So the MS-Word setting ruled.

How dumb of me. Sorry to have troubled you.
