.PST Settings (OL 2003)

     Loungers

Each time I use a new .PST file, I have to go in and tell it to organize my messages by color. I like Red for stuff I need to handle right away, and blue or black for all the jokes I get from my friends, and Green for messages from the lounge and other friends who don't send me a lot of jokes.

Is there a way to export these settings from one .PST file to another?

I typically move the .PST file to an archive folder, off line, when its size reaches around 1.8 GB, so I do this process practically once or twice a week.

    Thanks for any help.

Views are specific to a PST folder. If you want to preserve your views, you are archiving the wrong way round.

To preserve your views: COPY your Mail Folders into the Archive (Ctrl+click) and then delete items from the Folder that remains in your current Outlook store.

Have you saved all these color settings into a view? If not, try this (based on OL2002, your menus may vary):

    1.
Display the folder that is set the way you like it.

Choose View>Current View>Define View...

<Current View Settings> should be highlighted. Click Copy... and name the new view (e.g., Wassim2004), make it available to ALL mail folders. Click OK, OK, Close to get back to your folder.

Display the folder you want to have the color formatting.

Use View>Current View>Wassim2004 (or the drop-down on the Advanced toolbar) to apply the view.
    Does it work?

    1) If you have Ol2003, why are you using an ANSI pst. If you use unicode, you lose the limit.
    2) There is an article by Sue Mosher that explains the convoluted method needed to copy views (unless you use exchange server) http://www.winnetmag.com/MicrosoftExchange...tlook_8650.html
