    Re: Lines in Word (Word 2002)

    Hi, has she somehow managed to set a top/bottom border on the text? Check format and borders and shading. Occasionaly if you are in print layout view and have set to wrapping square or tight on pictures, what seems to be lines appears across the page, these are only guide lines for the text and don't print or show on print preview. Is this the case?

    let me know

    Michelle

    No - not borders. I played with borders on my machine - these lines are on all pages - even appear when you click new document. They surround every line on each page even when the lines of a paragraph go over several lines - whereas borders surround a paragraph.

    The last line you see on the picture is the last line in the document.

    'These lines are horizontal grid lines. To get rid of them:

    Display the Drawing toolbar (if it is not displayed yet.)
    Click on Draw, then select Grid... from the popup menu.
    Clear the "Display gridlines on screen" check box.
    Click OK.
    (Hide the Drawing toolbar if you prefer.)

    Hans is probably correct, but there is one other possibility. You can open the header/footer area to see if the lines were put in like a watermark in normal.dot. One way to test it quickly is to make sure that Tools/Options/Print tab has drawing objects selected & then print a page of the document. Gridlines won't print.

    Oh, and if it occurs in new documents, gridlines have somehow been turned on in Normal.dot. You'll have to open Normal.dot and turn them off there.

    Lines in Word (Word 2002)

    <P ID="edit" class=small>(Edited by jscher2000 on 10-Feb-04 11:36. Graphic cropped to illustrate the problem without stretching the Lounge format quite so much.)</P>G'day All

    My Mother in Law has managed to display lines across the page of her Word 2002 documents. I'm running Word 2003 and for the life of me I can't find how to turn it off. Any ideas? Picture attached.

    Thanks - I think that's probably it. How she turned on just the horizontal lines, I'll never know !
