How do I F-Disk (Windows XP - PRO)

For background see my post Reinstall woes . So now I have to F-Disk my drive and reinstall windows. This would be fine but how can one do this with XP-PRO? If I go to the command prompt it will, of course, not let me do it because windows is running. I really do not how to do this now. I probably need the instructions relatively detailed as I am in "computer dumb" mode today. Just one of those days (Probably the expectation of having to do the F-Disk).

Thanks in advance for any and all help you can give me.

Re: How do I F-Disk (Windows XP - PRO)

You need to create a startable DOS disk and boot the computer with it. Once Windows is running, low-level work like this is impossible.

Go to BootDisk.com and download a Windows 98 startup image, create a floppy, and reboot with the disk. You should then be able to re-partition everything to your heart's content. Alternatively, Windows XP setup will partition the disk for you, if you prefer - without any additional steps beyond booting with the Windows CD-ROM.

Hi Kathie,

Without going into the lurid details here, I'll refer you to a website that has step by step instructions on fdisk.
It says for Win 98 but fdisk will work fine on XP.

Go to:FSDISK
