    Reminders steal focus (2000 SP3)

    Hi all,

When I have a calendar reminder (or a flagged item reminder) pop up, it steals focus. I can be typing away, and all of a sudden I'll hear the machine twirp, and assume it is an incoming email. Only when I look up do I see that for the past 2 or 3 minutes I have been typing in a message box, and not where my typing would do me any good.

Any way to stop reminders from stealing focus?

    Thanks,
    Saturn

Not that I know of - I think the general design concept is exactly that: take the focus, and make you pay attention to the reminder.

There is a possibility that a TweakUI setting will do this for you, though. There is an option in TweakUI to prevent applications from stealing focus, but I have never tried it with reminders before. Worth a go, anyway - just make sure that you download the correct version of TweakUI for your version of Windows (WinXP uses a completely different Tweak than all other versions of Windows).

I forgot about that in Outlook 2000. If you're undecided about upgrading, you might want to know that Outlook 2002 doesn't steal focus, it flashes the Outlook stub on the taskbar. At least, I think that's what happens, I set those reminders for long snoozes so I don't have to test this out too frequently. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>
