    Quick Access Query (Access 2000)

Hi, Just a quick on here I hope.
I have a table that I have imported from Excel. The first column relates to a 3 digit code, the second column then lists employee names. Each code relates uniquely to that a single employee.
In excel, I know you can use a lookup formula to match the entries of the codes to those of the employee. No problem.
In access, is the same possible.
i currently have a drop list that displays all of the 3 digit codes, in a seperate textbox(or similar) I would like to be able to match the code in the drop list to the name on the table. Then display it in the textbox............simple????? Or not...
    Thanks,
    Armitage

Re: Quick Access Query (Access 2000)

Create a combo box (the Access name for a dropdown list), and set the following properties:
    - Row Source Type: table/query
    - Row Source: the name of your table
    - Limit To List: Yes
    - Column Count: 2
    - Column Widths: 1",1" if you want to see the 3 digit code and display the employee name elsewhere, or 0",1" if you want to see the name but "store" the 3 digit code.

You can display the name in a text box by setting its Control Source to
    =[ComboBoxName].[Column](1)

where ComboBoxName must be replaced by the actual name. Columns in a list box or combo box are numbered starting at 0, so Column(1) is the second column.
