    Restrict IE 5.5

Has anyone been able to restrict access to Internet Explorer 5.5 for all users of a particular PC? I have a Windows 2000 PC with MSOffice in a "shared" area. I would like to allow access to our LAN, but no internet browsing capabilities (without buying additional software). I tried to simply rename iexplore.exe, but it just fixes itself on the next access. Is there a registry key or something else I could try? Thank you in advance.

Maybe you need to look at moving the control off the desktop. How do your users access the Internet?

To disable it altogether you could fiddle with the connection setup (Tools > Internet Options > Connections), or perhaps a wild-card entry in the Content Advisor might work?

Thanks for the suggestions. I have not used the content advisor, I'll do some research on that. I don't think the connections tab offers what I need, because I still need to keep my LAN connection. Also, I need the change to be global, I don't have access to each users desktop to make the changes. Thanks again !
