    Numbering (Word 2003)

I am having so much trouble numbering. For some reason everytime I modify a line it makes a new style. I have 15 different numbering styles now (I only want 1), not to mention all the other styles that have been created if I center, bold, move etc. But the main problem is I will have a numbered list above. Sometimes it is in the next page and other times it might be 2 or 3 pages previous. I use a macro that numbers my line. When I get to a new list I will run the macro. The line gets numbered. Now for some reason instead of starting with a new number it takes the number of the previous list, no matter how many pages back that is. So no biggie, I just right click on the number and choose Restart Numbering. Now my list starts at 1. But now, and this has happened in every document I have been working on now, I can not get it to renumber. It renumbers back to 1 then instantly changes back to the continuing number. I do not have update selected in any of my styles. And then I notice that all my numbers lists have changed. If I look into the styles list I see, in this document, that I have 113 instances of the number style. BUT I DO NOT SELECT ALL 113. I only want to change this new list to 1. What am I not doing?

    Thanks,
    Russ

    Re: Numbering (Word 2003)

I have two macros for numbered lists. One starts the list over and the other one picks up where the last list left off. If I have to start at an odd number (for instance, my new list starts with number 5), I type in 5. type my text and when I press [enter] the next line starts at number 6. See if that helps.

You mention two macros... were you going to post them -- or a link to them?

You can create a clickable link in a post by putting <!t><!/t> before and <!t><!/t> after the URL; you can type these yourself or insert them from the 1-Click TagPanel that is available when you are composing or editing a post.. So <!t>http://www.softwaretrainers.com<!t>"]<!/t>http://www.softwaretrainers.com<!t>[/url]<!/t> becomes http://www.softwaretrainers.com when posted.
