    Help on Help (2000)

    Having freshly reinstalled Office, I discover that certain links no longer work in Excel's help files (maybe other apps too).
    They are all definition-style popup links/ URL addresses like: java script:HelpPopup('xltip9.hlp','xldefDataSource');

    Their "Properties" indicate Unknown Protocol and Type: Not available. I know that the 'xltip9.hlp' file is installed, so how do I get these little critters to show themselves again?

    thanks

    Hi Alan,

    See if Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 822989 applies. If so, you're on the way to solving it.

    Cheers

    Thanks Macropod

    I followed the advice on MSKB 822989, but to no avail. Then I found the suggestion to replace the updated Office file Ouactrl.ocx with an old version, which I happened to have handy in an old installation. Works fine now.
