    Access 2003 Format (2003 )

I just installed Office 2003 Pro. I don't see the old familiar dialog box with Access that gives me a choice to open the existing database as it is or convert it to the new Access 2003 file format. I then created a very quick new database and sent it to a machine that only has Access 2000 on it. Access 2000 was able to open the newly created Access 2003 database. I was under the understanding that Access 2003 would have a new file format. Was I wrong? Why would this work the way it did if it does have a new file format?

    Thanks.

I don't have 2003, but if it is like XP then the default format is 2000. You can change the format by going to Tools / Database Utilities / Convert Database and then convert to the format you want.

    Francois,

Thanks. I guess that is why I was able to open one I created in 2003 with 2000's version. I kind of like that feature. It will make my compatibility issue with other computers easier.
