Pegasus V4.12a (Netscape 4.75)

I just installed Pegasus again. I cannot find a setting that will download messages but not remove them from the server. I'd like to keep my NS 4.75 until I'm sure Pegasus will do what I need. Anyone use Pegasus & knows if that setting exists?
Thanks,

Phil

There is a pretty strong community on Usenet at "comp.mail.pegasus-mail.ms-windows". I'm sure you would get help there.

Phil, when I was trying out Pegasus, I got a lot of advice from Bryan Carbonnell ( <!profile=carbonnb>carbonnb<!/profile> ) although I don't "see" him around as much lately. Why don't you send him a PM since he may not have seen this thread? I'm sure if he's got a tip for ya, he'll post it here.

Thanks, BigAl. I thought of that, but I also didn't want to bother him. I'm sure I could, though. Just being indecisive.

As you may have seen from this recent thread the path out of Pegasus - should you ever change you mind - is even more complicated than some. From the sound of it, you may ave already come across this issue but HTH.

Thanks for the warning, unkamunka. I do recall reading that thread, but my eyes glazed over. It's problems like that that make me want to go back to go back to pen & paper. In the meantime, I took BigAl's advice & Bryan has now given me the answer. I will post it here for completeness as soon as I find it.

Here it is:
Tools|Internet Options...| Receiving (POP3) Tab.

Select your POP Account and click Edit.

On the General Tab of the new dialog towards the bottom

*uncheck* Delete mail on the server once it has been sucessfully
received

and OK your way out.

Thanks to everyone for their assistance.

Hi Keith:
I just tried to add the comp.mail.pegasus-mail.ms-windows usenet to Netscape & couldn't do so. Do you know what the server name is?
Thanks,

I see you've had your problem resolved so your question may now be academic?

You should be able to read newsgroups with Netscape by pointing its newsreader at your ISP's news-server (typically "news.myisp.net"). If you've done that and you're still not getting anywhere, perhaps you ISP doesn't carry that newsgroup. You're then stuck with either asking your ISP to load it or to go to GoogleGroups. But if you do the latter and want to post you then need to register with Google.

Re: Pegasus V4.12a (Netscape 4.75)

Hi Keith:
It's still timely & thanks for the instructions. You know, in the 10 yrs. or so that I've had computers, I have never subscribed to a newsgroup on my ISP server (turns out I had to remove & load a new one anyhow). I guess I've only used a few outside servers.
Thanks much for the help,
