    Add Ins Error (2000/SR1)

I have a user who receives this error upon opening any Office 2000 application. This has just started 2 weeks ago and I can't seem to locate any info on it. I've seen some posts on Outlook about this, but she doesn't use Outlook.

c:documents and settingsuser nameapplication datamicrosoftaddinscrogramfilescommon filesmicrosoft sharedgeographympoai9.dll is not a valid office addin.

She then clicks OK and the application fully launches. She doesn't have any Addins loaded and the app seems to run normally. Just annoying.

    Thanks in advance.

This is the MapPoint add-in. It seems its path in the registry has been corrupted. Try the following:
    - Try to locate mpoai9.dll on the C: disk. Make sure that you display hidden and system folders and files (start Windows Explorer, and activate the View tab of Tools | Folder Options to check this.)
    - In Windows, select Start | Run...
    - Type regsvr32 ...mpoai9.dll where the dots ... must be replaced by the exact path of the dll, then click OK or press Enter.

One trick I use is to drag the file right from Windows Explorer into the Run dialog box after first typing regsrvr32 . The full path is added at the end & so I can't mistype it. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

Well I searched the computer, did all files and did hidden/system files. MPOAI9.dll is not on her machine. She doesn't use Mappoint and it is not installed her on her pc. Ideas?

Can you find any mention of the DLL in the registry editor (select Start | Run..., type regedit, then press Enter)? If so, delete it/them.

    Hi Lisa:
Are there any add-ins located in the Office startup folder, probably at
    "C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOfficeStartup"?

    Re: Add Ins Error (2000/SR1)

Ok. I have some more information. The only instances of the DLL were in the Recent Searches section of the registry. I deleted those. She has NO addins loaded on her pc...BUT - she just told me today that she has Mappoint on her home pc which she uses to RAS in and access her files here on our network. So this is making more sense. I logged in yesterday as a User and as Admin and did not receive the error. So it is specific to her profile. I can delete her profile, but this will most likely happen again the next time she RASs in right?

    Re: Add Ins Error (2000/SR1)

Try having her open up Outlook - so that she has an established profile. This may short-circuit the error message. (You may have to end up re-setting her default e-mail client back to what itr is already.) HTH
    Grüße
