    Drop Folders

    Hi,

I want to set up a Drop Folder on a Windows Server for my students at school.

They would be able to save their work there to get marked.

On a Macintosh this is a simple check box operation and it all works.

I am struggling to get it to work on the windows server.

The students should be able to, from a save dialog box; navigate to the folder then save a document inside the folder.

I have currently set permissions to Traverse, Create and Write.

However the student's files are appearing but only have files sizes of zero kilobytes!!!!

I want them to be able to:
Navigate to the folder from within a save dialog box.
    Save a file in there
Overwrite a file in there (if they already have one in there)

What I don't want them to be able to do is:
See what is in there already.
    Delete files in there
    Open files from in there.

The reason for this is to stop cheating happening.

Then I can simply take their work and mark it.

I would love some help please.

    Cheers

    James

Using... Microsoft Word? You might need to add Modify and Delete privileges. Word like to work with a lot of temp files.

That advice worked a treat thanks. The Drop Folders have been working perfectly until I started using Publisher. It won't let me into the folder, whereas Word and Excel both work fine?
    Any thoughts

I never use Publisher...... maybe there's a specific MS Support newsgroup for the program? Google Groups is one way to search for that.

Could be that Publisher needs an additional permission that Word and Excel don't need. See this Google search for more information:
    Publisher folder permissions
